    SCHEDULE FOR APRIL 21, 2018 SC CHAMPIONSHIP

    ORDER OF EVENTS AND ESTIMATED START TIMES:

    9:00 AM       Doors open to the athletes and public. 
    9:30 AM       Officials Meeting at the top of the day.  AAU karate club                         instructors, coaches, and top athletes are welcome to                             attend.  Know the rules, ask questions, meet other clubs. 

    10:00 AM      National Anthem, Dojo Recognition
    10:10 AM      Ring 1: Weapons and Kata, All Ranks Ages 5-6 
                        Ring 2: Black Belt Adult Men and Women (ages 16-70)                                      Kata and Kobudo
                        Ring 3: Weapons and Kata, White & Green Belts  7-8
                        Ring 4: Weapons and Kata, Brown and Black Belts 7-8
    11:00 AM     Continuation of Kata Youngest to Oldest, 9-10, 11-12. 13-                     14, 15-16-17, all ranks  
    12:00 PM     Begin Kumite Youngest to Oldest
    2:00 PM       Team Kata and Team Kumite 

    Throughout the day - Concessions will be sold on-site, please post to social media (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) using hashtag #ncaau and #aaukarate and pick up information about National Competition at the AAU Table near Concessions.

    GROWING THE INDIVIDUAL:

    ATHLETES: The national AAU Karate program clearly recognizes the life-long benefits of karate; AAU Karate has the largest and best developmental program for new karate competitors and an elite program for seasoned athletes that includes national and international competition.  

    • Karate Competition: Individual and Team 
    • Ages: Single sex & single age bracket divisions for 5,6,7...17; age blocks 18-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60 & over
    • Levels: Beginner (0-1 yrs training), Novice (1-2 yrs), Intermediate (2-4 yrs), Advanced (over 4 yrs),  
    • Divisions: Traditional Weapons, Kata/Forms, and Sparring
    • On April 21, 2018 at the NC State Championship, we will also offer Pee Wee (ages 3-6), Special Needs Youth and Special Needs Adult Divisions.  All athletes in these divisions will receive medals.

    COACHES & OFFICIALS: For ex-athletes and still competing adults, the coaches' program and officiating program are ways to continue growing in karate. AAU Karate is designed for traditional Japanese and Okinawan karate.
